There’s something about drive-in movie theaters in Tampa Bay that just hits differently. Cozy blankets, snacks in the backseat, and that little wave of nostalgia you don’t realize you needed. Tampa Bay has some seriously fun spots where you can kick back under the stars and catch a movie without ever leaving your car. It feels low-key, a little retro, and honestly such a vibe for date nights, family hangs, or just a chill night with friends.

Drive-In Movie Theaters in Tampa Bay
1. Silver Moon Drive-In Theater
First up, we’ve got Silver Moon Drive-In Theater in Lakeland—just a quick drive from Tampa and totally worth the trip. This spot has been around since 1948, giving you all the nostalgic vibes while still keeping things fresh with double features every night.
Tickets are only $8 per person, which means you get to watch two movies for the price of one. Plus, they’ve got a snack bar stocked with all the movie essentials—popcorn, nachos, candy, you name it.
If you’re making the drive from Tampa, why not turn it into a day trip to Lakeland? There’s a ton to do before the movie starts, so you can make a whole adventure out of it!

2. Joy-Lan Drive-In Movie Theater
Next up is Joy-Lan Drive-In, about 45 minutes from Tampa in Dade City. This one’s been showing movies since 1950, keeping that old-school charm alive.
Not only do they play everything from the newest blockbusters to nostalgic throwbacks, but they also have a Sunday flea market, so it’s a fun weekend spot. And if you’ve got a furry movie buddy, good news—this drive-in is pet-friendly!
Tickets are also $8 per person, and it’s owned by the same folks as Silver Moon, so you know it’s a solid choice. Just a heads-up, though—they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays!
3. Ocala Drive-In Theater
Alright, this one’s a bit more of a drive (about an hour and a half from Tampa), but hear me out—Ocala is one of my favorite weekend getaways from Tampa. So if you’re up for the drive, it’s totally worth it!
Ocala Drive-In Theater keeps the classic drive-in experience alive with crystal-clear digital screenings and a surprisingly awesome concession stand. I’m talking about all the usual movie snacks plus some unexpected treats you didn’t even know you needed.
Bonus: It’s the cheapest drive-in theater on this list! Tickets are just $6 for adults and $3 for kids ages 6-12.

4. Ruskin Family Drive-In Movie Theater
Last but not least, we’re heading south to Ruskin Family Drive-In—a cozy, family-friendly spot where movie night feels extra special.
They’ve got an old-school snack bar serving up homemade pizza and their famous Ruskin chili dog (which you need to try). But if you’d rather bring your own snacks, you can—just pay a $5 food permit fee and pack whatever you want!
Tickets are only $7 for visitors ages 9 and up, but be prepared—it’s cash only here. They show a mix of new releases and classics, with the lineup changing weekly, so keep an eye on what’s playing.
Movies run Wednesday through Sunday, making this a great midweek or weekend spot for a chill night out.
