Growing up in a small town just outside of Toledo, Ohio, I’m not sure if there just weren’t many coffee shops in Toledo back then—or if I was simply too obsessed with Tim Hortons to notice (and honestly, can you blame me? Living in Florida now, I miss it so much!).

But these days, every time I head back home for a visit, I make it a point to explore beyond my usual. Along with my obligatory Timmy’s run, I’ve started checking out local coffee shops in Toledo, and I’ve been seriously impressed with what I’ve found!

From cozy neighborhood cafes to trendy spots with fun seasonal specials, the coffee scene here has really stepped up. I’ll be updating this list as I discover more, but here are a few of the best coffee shops in Toledo I’ve tried so far!

Must-Visit Toledo Coffee Shops

1. Earth Coffeehouse

Earth Coffeehouse was my most recent find—and honestly, my favorite on this list of coffee shops in Toledo so far! If this place had been around when I was in nursing school here, I definitely would’ve lived at it.

First of all, it’s HUGE. There’s so much space to spread out, and even a DJ stand, so I’m guessing they host events too. It’s the kind of spot that’s perfect for both getting work done and just hanging out—tons of plants, a mix of cozy + functional seating, and such a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

The food is great, and the coffee is phenomenal. They have so many fun drinks to choose from, it was actually tough to decide—but I ended up going with the cookie butter latte, and it was definitely the move. Can’t wait to go back and try more soon!

Note: They are closed on Sunday.

2. Rustbelt Coffee

I stopped into Rustbelt Coffee for a cold brew and was so happy to see they offer cold foam—instant win in my book! The coffee was smooth and refreshing, and they have a menu full of fun, unique flavors I definitely want to try next time. The Blueberry Skies and Honey Nut CherriOS latte are at the top of my list.

The vibe inside is really cool—industrial meets earthy, with warm tones and a laid-back feel that makes it a great place to hang out or get a little work done. They also have a decent food menu, which is always a bonus when you’re trying to make your coffee stop into more of a casual breakfast or lunch spot!

3. Grindhrs Coffee

Grindhrs Coffee & Community is such a special spot. Their mission is all about providing entertainment, hospitality, and coffee in a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies—and you can truly feel that welcoming energy as soon as you walk in.

Not only are the vibes immaculate, but they might just have the most fun menu out of all the coffee shops in Toledo I’ve visited so far. They’ve got tons of drink options—coffee, tea, and more—but my favorite thing? Coffee flights.

When there are so many good-sounding flavors, nothing makes my indecisive heart happier than getting to try a little bit of everything. It’s such a fun way to sample the menu, and I’ll absolutely be back to do another one!

4. Maddie & Bella Coffee Roasters

Maddie & Bella is a staple when it comes to coffee shops in Toledo. Their downtown location is super cute and has that cozy, neighborhood feel that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. Whether you’re grabbing something quick to go or looking for a spot to post up and work, this place is such a solid option.

They roast their own beans, so you know the coffee is going to be top tier. They’ve also got a nice selection of pastries and baked goods, which always make a coffee stop feel complete. If you’re someone who appreciates a really well-crafted cup of coffee, this spot should definitely be on your list.

Which of these Toledo coffee shops are you checking out first?!

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, these coffee shops in Toledo prove the city’s coffee scene is seriously underrated. From creative drinks and cozy vibes to spacious work-friendly cafés and inclusive community hubs, there’s something for every kind of coffee lover here!

I’ll definitely be adding more spots to this list as I make more trips back home. Have a favorite Toledo coffee shop I should try next? Let me know!
