Growing up in Toledo, I made a few trips to Columbus, mostly to visit my best friend while she was at OSU. But to be honest, those visits were more about pregaming and bar hopping than actually exploring the city. So getting the chance to go back and really experience a weekend in Columbus (with my bestie still as my local guide!) was such a fun change of pace!

Columbus is the capital of Ohio and actually the most populated city in the state. It’s home to The Ohio State University, a booming food scene, cool arts districts, and a mix of historic charm and modern energy. Whether you’re into street art, shopping, craft cocktails, or museums, there’s a little something for everyone here!

We kept things super chill on this trip—think coffee shops, amazing food, and light exploring. And honestly, it was perfect. If you’re planning a weekend in Columbus and want to keep it low-key, here’s everything we got up to.

Must-Visit Coffee Shops in Columbus

One of the best parts of our laid-back weekend in Columbus was checking out some of the city’s cutest and coziest coffee shops. Whether you’re starting your day slow or just need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, these spots are worth adding to your list!

Ravello’s

We were lucky enough to stop by Ravello’s on the day of their grand opening, and we instantly fell in love! This beautiful cafe is located inside The Daily Bar, so it’s a coffee shop by day and bar by night. Keep in mind they’re closed on Sundays (which we found out the hard way when we tried to return for round two!), so plan your visit accordingly.

The space is absolutely stunning with exposed brick, tons of greenery, and a giant garage door that opens up to give the whole place an open-air feel. Their drink menu impressed me right away, with fun options like a Biscoff latte, strawberry matcha, and dreamy cold foams. Even on their grand opening day, the service was quick and seamless; they really had their system down!

If you’re spending your weekend in Columbus looking for an aesthetically pleasing and delicious coffee shop, this is the one.

Fox in the Snow

Fox in the Snow is a Columbus classic—and now I get the hype. They have two locations: one in the Short North and one in German Village, and both are equally adorable. Our mission here was simple: get the breakfast sandwich.

And it was 12/10. The egg was perfectly fluffy, the bacon was thick and crispy, the arugula added just the right amount of freshness, and the bread had that perfect toasted crunch. It was one of those meals you talk about for the rest of the trip. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, and even though the color made me think it was going to be way too milky, it ended up being delicious.

The pastry case was filled with so many tempting options—I wish we had more room to try them! If you’re planning a stop here during your Columbus weekend, definitely come on an empty stomach.

One Line Coffee

We actually stumbled on One Line Coffee by accident! They have a few locations around the city, including Short North, Franklinton, and Capitol Square, so it’s a convenient option no matter where you’re spending your weekend in Columbus.

I grabbed a vanilla latte, and it was so good—smooth, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness. It ended up being the perfect pairing with the bite we grabbed from The Lox right before (more on that in the next section).

Littleton’s Market

This one’s a bit off the typical tourist path, but if you find yourself in Upper Arlington, swing by Littleton’s Market. It’s a charming neighborhood market with a small cafe tucked inside. It’s the perfect cozy stop for a midday break.

I grabbed their iced vanilla spiced latte and paired it with a baked good (because obviously), and both were so good. The vibe here is a little quieter and more relaxed, making it a great option if you’re looking to step away from the downtown crowds during your weekend in Columbus.

It’s not a must if you’re staying right in the city center, but if you’re nearby, it’s totally worth the detour.

Delicious Restaurants in Columbus

The Lox

Let’s start with breakfast—because as a bagel girl, there had to be a bagel spot on the list of must-visit restaurants in Columbus. The Lox was phenomenal. We shared a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich and an everything bagel with smear, and both hit the spot. Everything was super flavorful, perfectly warmed, and made fresh.

Bonus: it’s located right across the street from One Line Coffee, so you can grab your bagel and then swing over for a latte. Ideal morning combo? I think yes.

Lindey’s

Whether you go for brunch, lunch, or dinner—Lindey’s is a must. Located in the heart of German Village, it gives serious NYC energy, especially if you’re lucky enough to sit out on the patio. Just a heads-up: the patio doesn’t take reservations, but we got there right when they opened at 11 AM on a Saturday and had no problem getting a table.

I was so tempted by the berries and cream French toast, but I ended up going savory with their crispy spicy chicken sandwich (no regrets). We paired it with a cup of lobster bisque, and since Remi and I like to share, the staff even split everything for us without us asking. Between the vibe, the food, and the service, this was easily one of my favorite spots of the weekend.

Forno

Dinner at Forno = incredible food and one of the best happy hour deals I’ve seen in a while. We went during their happy hour, and between the three of us, we shared 3 appetizers, a pizza, 6 drinks total, and strawberry shots (yes, and they were delicious)—and our bill was around $100. You really can’t beat that! Drinks, apps, and pizzas are half off during happy hour, and if you’re planning a night out, this is the perfect way to kick it off.

After dinner, head right next door to Lincoln Social for a rooftop bar with skyline views. Want to keep the night going? Forno also has a speakeasy downstairs called The Marmont that you can check out after.

We got to hit three totally different vibes—dinner, rooftop cocktails, and a hidden speakeasy—and they’re all within a two-minute walk. If you want a full night out without the Uber chaos, this little corner of Columbus has you covered.

Chapman’s Eat Market

If you love a stunning aesthetic, Chapman’s is truly a dream. Think pink walls, nostalgic wallpaper, bookshelves galore—it looks like a professional thrifter decorated it with all their best finds, and I was so here for it.

The menu changes frequently, with just a few permanent staples, and we were obsessed with everything we tried. The beef fat fried French fries with their signature chappy sauce were an instant favorite, and the smashed cucumbers were crunchy, refreshing, and the perfect starter. For mains, we had the Khao Soi, and it was packed with bold, fun flavors.

If you’re planning a weekend in Columbus and want a dinner spot that’s just as much about the vibe as it is the food, this is your place.

Bibibop

If you’re looking for something quick, affordable, and delicious—especially if you’re a little hungover from last night’s cocktails—Bibibop is that girl. It’s basically like Chipotle, but for hibachi-style bowls. I used to always grab this when I’d visit Columbus years ago, and this was my first time having it in nearly a decade… and yep, it still hits.

You can build your own bowl with rice, noodles, veggies, and protein, and the yum yum sauce is an absolute must. Pro tip: double up on it. They’ve got locations all over Columbus, so whether you’re downtown, near campus, or out in the suburbs, chances are there’s one nearby when that craving hits.

Things to Do in Columbus

Even though this was a super chill weekend in Columbus, we still made time to explore a few fun neighborhoods and scenic spots between all the eating and sipping. Whether you’re into nature, art, or just wandering cute streets, there’s plenty to fill your weekend without feeling rushed.

Wander Through German Village

German Village is one of the most charming neighborhoods in Columbus, hands down. With brick-lined streets, cozy shops, and adorable architecture, it’s the perfect place to stroll with a coffee in hand. Pop into one of the many boutiques, grab a bite at one of the neighborhood’s great restaurants, and don’t miss The Book Loft—an iconic bookstore with 32 rooms (!!) of books to get lost in.

Stroll the Scioto Mile

If you’re looking for a little fresh air and riverfront views, the Scioto Mile is a scenic urban trail with walking paths, fountains, parks, and skyline views. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs, especially if you’re staying downtown or want a peaceful break between meals or shops.

Explore the Short North Arts District

The Short North is colorful, creative, and full of energy. You’ll find public art, cool galleries, trendy shops, and lots of fun bars and restaurants. It’s one of the most walkable areas in the city, and a great place to people-watch, snap some photos, or grab another iced latte you probably didn’t need (but also definitely needed).

Hayden Falls Park

If you find yourself near Upper Arlington, make a quick stop at Hayden Falls Park. It’s a short and easy ¼-mile walk to a pretty little waterfall. It’s not a huge “make a trip just for this” kind of destination, but it’s a peaceful detour if you’re already in the area. Bonus: it’s free and a great excuse to get outside for a few minutes!

More Things to Do in Columbus

If you have more time or want to mix in a few other activities, here are a few more fun options:

  • Columbus Zoo and Aquarium – One of the best in the country and super family-friendly.
  • Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens – Gorgeous indoor and outdoor gardens, art installations, and rotating exhibits. Tickets are around $25.
  • Whetstone Park of Roses – A hidden gem! This park features one of the largest public rose gardens in the U.S., with over 7,500 rose specimens. And it’s completely free to visit.

Where to Stay in Columbus

If you’re planning a weekend in Columbus and wondering where to stay, here are a few solid options depending on your vibe and budget.

  • Graduate Columbus – Located in the Short North and walkable to so many bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. Plus, it’s super cute and has that perfect mix of retro and trendy.
  • Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph – A little more upscale and also in Short North. Great for a girls’ weekend or if you’re treating yourself!
  • Moxy Columbus Short North – Budget-friendly, fun atmosphere, and right in the middle of everything. Perfect if you’re not planning to spend much time in the room.
