When The Tampa EDITION first opened, it felt like the beginning of a new era for downtown Tampa. As a local, watching Water Street Tampa transform has been incredible, and The EDITION quickly became one of its standout destinations. Between its stunning design, incredible restaurants, rooftop pool, and unbeatable location, it’s easy to see why it’s become one of the most sought-after luxury hotels in Tampa.
Whether you’re visiting Tampa for the first time or planning a staycation, The Tampa EDITION puts you within walking distance of some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and attractions. I’ve visited several times over the years and even stayed overnight to experience everything the hotel has to offer.
In this Tampa EDITION review, I’ll share what it’s actually like to stay here, what I loved, and a few things to know before booking.

Tampa EDITION Hotel Review
The Tampa EDITION at a Glance
First Impressions
The moment you walk into The Tampa EDITION, you’re greeted by one of my favorite details about the brand, the signature EDITION scent. If you’ve stayed at another EDITION hotel before, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s fresh, clean, and somehow instantly makes the space feel luxurious. The scent is so loved that you can actually buy it for your home!
Another thing that immediately stood out to me was the design. If you’ve visited The Miami Beach EDITION, you’ll notice a similar aesthetic with lush greenery, warm wood tones, and elegant neutral finishes throughout the hotel.
The lobby has plenty of comfortable seating, making it a great place to enjoy a coffee, meet up with friends, or simply take in the atmosphere before heading out to explore Water Street!

The Rooms
Our room perfectly matched the rest of the hotel: clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed with warm finishes that made it feel cozy instead of overly minimal. One of my favorite features was the floor-to-ceiling windows, which filled the room with natural light and offered beautiful views of downtown Tampa.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated all of the small luxury touches throughout the room, from the plush robes to the upscale toiletries. The bathroom had a spacious vanity and a rainfall shower, which I appreciated.

One of the things I love most about The Tampa EDITION is that it’s worth visiting even if you aren’t staying overnight. The restaurants and bars have become destinations in their own right, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, meeting friends for drinks, or grabbing one of the best pizzas in Tampa. Here’s what you can expect from each spot:
- Market at EDITION: Easily my favorite place to eat at the hotel. It’s a casual all-day cafe serving breakfast, coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and incredible Neapolitan-style pizza. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite pizzas in Tampa, and I’d come here just for that.
- Azure at EDITION: The hotel’s poolside restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes and cocktails. Even if you aren’t spending the day at the pool, it’s a great spot for a relaxed lunch in a beautiful setting.
- Arts Club: A stylish cocktail lounge with live entertainment on select nights, set beneath a constellation of disco balls. It’s a fun place to grab a drink before dinner or end the evening, and the space feels elegant without being pretentious.
- Lilac: The hotel’s signature fine dining Mediterranean restaurant. While I personally wasn’t blown away, especially considering the price, I know plenty of people who love it. If you’re celebrating something special and enjoy fine dining, it may still be worth experiencing for yourself.
- Punch Room: One of the coolest cocktail bars in Tampa and home to the first Punch Room in North America, which is a pretty fun claim to fame. The intimate space specializes in shareable punches alongside creative craft cocktails, and the moody atmosphere makes it one of my favorite spots for date night or drinks with friends.
- Lobby Bar: If you’re looking for a classic hotel bar done well, this is it. Whether you’re meeting friends, enjoying a nightcap, or simply soaking in the hotel’s atmosphere, it’s an easy place to settle in with a cocktail.

Beyond the beautiful rooms and dining, The Tampa EDITION offers plenty of amenities to make your stay even more enjoyable.

Things to Do Near The Tampa EDITION
One of the biggest perks of staying at The Tampa EDITION is its central location. Sitting in the heart of Water Street, you’re surrounded by some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and entertainment. Here are a few nearby attractions that are worth adding to your itinerary:
- Tampa Riverwalk: Just steps from the hotel, this scenic waterfront path stretches along the Hillsborough River and is perfect for a morning walk, bike ride, or sunset stroll. You’ll also find parks, museums, restaurants, and plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
- Benchmark International Arena: Catch a Tampa Bay Lightning game, concert, or other live event at Tampa’s premier entertainment venue, located just a short walk from the hotel.
- Sparkman Wharf: One of my favorite places to hang out downtown! Grab a drink, try a few local food vendors, or simply relax on the lawn while enjoying the waterfront views.
- Florida Aquarium: Home to sharks, sea turtles, playful otters, and hundreds of other marine animals. It’s one of the best family-friendly activities in Tampa!
- Historic Ybor City: Hop on the free TECO Streetcar or take a quick drive to Tampa’s historic Latin Quarter. Spend the afternoon exploring cigar shops, coffee shops, breweries, boutiques, and some of the city’s best Cuban food.

Is The Tampa EDITION Worth It?
Overall, I’d give The Tampa EDITION an 8/10. It’s definitely one of the pricier hotels in Tampa, but it does offer beautiful design, an amazing Water Street location, excellent service, and one of my favorite hotel pools in the city.
The main reason I docked a couple of points is value. Thankfully, room rates fluctuate throughout the year, so if you’re flexible with your travel dates, you can often score a much better deal. And while I know Lilac has its fans, it just didn’t quite deliver for me.
If you’re planning a special occasion, a staycation, or simply want to experience one of Tampa’s most beautiful hotels, I’d absolutely recommend it. And even if you don’t stay overnight, it’s worth stopping by for pizza at Market, cocktails at Punch Room, or simply to soak in the atmosphere.
