Downtown St. Pete is hands down my favorite place to go out in the Tampa Bay Area. The best part is that you can have a totally different night depending on your mood: a slow craft cocktail, a rooftop drink, a sports bar pregame, a speakeasy moment, or a full-on dance floor situation where you promise yourself you’re going home early and then absolutely do not.

Best Downtown St. Pete Bars with Craft Cocktails

1. Slim Charmer

I cannot even begin to express how much I love Slim Charmer. It’s small, intimate, sexy, and easily one of the best bars in downtown St. Pete for a night that feels a little more intentional. The Dirty Spice Martini is truly what dreams are made of: dirty martini energy, but with spicy pickle brine instead of olive. Perfection.

The food menu leans small plates with a couple of larger options, which is perfect if you want snacks with your martinis instead of a full dinner situation. We had the carpaccio and the dates, both amazing, and I’m already planning my next visit around the ribeye.

If you go on a Wednesday, don’t miss their “Happy Meal” deal: one classic martini (yes, the Dirty Spice counts!) plus fries for $12. It’s such a steal, especially when the martinis are normally $16.

2. Pluma Lounge

Pluma Lounge is one of those downtown St. Pete bars that makes grabbing a drink feel like an actual experience. It’s stylish and intimate, and the mixologists put so much care and creativity into every cocktail.

The menu draws inspiration from Central and South America, so you’ll find flavors you don’t come across on every cocktail list. The Picada Board is a must-order if you’re sharing, and it pairs perfectly with the kind of drinks you actually want to sip slowly.

If you’re looking for a St. Pete bar where you can slow down, sip something special, and still feel like you’re out somewhere cool, this is it.

3. Copper Shaker

Copper Shaker is a downtown St. Pete classic for craft cocktails. The atmosphere is laid-back and moody, but still fun enough that it works for a date night, a group stop, or the beginning of a bar-hop.

I love the Last Summer and Bee Sneeze, but if nothing on the menu jumps out, just tell them what you like, and they’ll make something custom.

4. The Detroit at 201

Tucked inside the historic Detroit building, The Detroit at 201 has a cool Victorian Steampunk vibe. The cocktails are solid, but the real fun is in their “Club Shooters”. The chocolate-covered pretzel shot is a must-try!

They’ve even got a to-go window, so you can grab a drink on the fly if you’re bar-hopping. But if you have time to stick around, I would.

Between the cocktails, historic setting, and live music every day, it’s a fun stop that feels very downtown St. Pete.

5. Saigon Blonde

Saigon Blonde is one of the most unique bars in downtown St. Pete. This ’60s-inspired tropical bar has tiki totems, bamboo ceilings, moody lighting, and vintage Vietnam War-era decor that makes the whole place feel like an escape.

The cocktails are just as creative as the space, with fun presentations and tropical flavors that make it a great stop when you want something more playful than a standard vodka soda.

The music here usually leans fun and upbeat, so it works just as well for a daytime drink as it does for a late-night stop when you want the energy to pick up.

6. Mandarin Hide

Espresso martini lovers, this is your spot. Mandarin Hide is known for serving up some of the best in town, but even if that’s not your thing, the bartenders can craft something around whatever flavors you’re in the mood for.

With over 450 spirits and a huge bourbon, whiskey, and scotch selection, you’re in good hands. And if you’re celebrating a birthday, bring your crew because you’ll get a free bottle of champagne with a sparkler.

On the weekends, they usually have a DJ out back, so it can shift from craft cocktail bar to a livelier stop as the night goes on.

Their sister location is Mandarin Heights in Seminole Heights, and it’s one of the best bars in Tampa with a totally different vibe!

7. Tequila Daisy

Tequila Daisy is a downtown St. Pete bar that any tequila or mezcal fan is going to love. They’ve got over 500 spirits to choose from, and the whole space feels like a vibrant nod to the history of tequila, hence the name inspired by the classic “Daisy” cocktail that came before the Margarita.

The drinks are top-tier, and the ambiance is the perfect mix of stylish and laid-back. As a mezcal lover, I already know I’ll be back here a lot.

8. Easy Tiger HiFi Lounge

Easy Tiger HiFi Lounge brings something a little different to downtown St. Pete: cocktails, vinyl DJs, and high-fidelity sound in a moody listening lounge setting.

It’s from the team behind The Bends and Wild Child, so naturally it has that cool-but-not-trying-too-hard Edge District energy.

This is the kind of place I’d go when I want a great cocktail and good music, but not necessarily a shoulder-to-shoulder club night. Expect more curated vinyl sets, global grooves, disco, funk, and lounge-y dance music.

9. Good Night John Boy

Good Night John Boy is a ’70s-themed nightclub that feels like stepping straight into a disco fever dream. Think glittering disco balls, funky patterns, and a light-up dance floor made for throwback songs you definitely know every word to!

The music is usually a mix of ’70s disco, retro pop, funk, and nostalgic dance hits, so it’s one of the easiest downtown St. Pete bars to rally a group for.

Not to pick favorites, but this might just be my go-to bar in St. Pete. I love stopping by during the day when it’s a little less busy, but if you’re planning to go on a weekend night, just know the line can get long. The vibes are usually worth it, though!

10. Crafty Squirrel

Crafty Squirrel is great for catching a game, but it also turns into a full party spot once the night gets going. With DJs spinning on the weekends, bottle service options, and daily specials, it’s an easy go-to when you want a downtown St. Pete bar that doesn’t require too much planning.

Music-wise, this one usually leans more toward party hits, hip-hop, EDM, and Top 40, depending on the DJ.

11. The Estate

If you’re craving a high-energy club night, The Estate is where you want to be. Between the VIP booths, EDM-heavy sets, bass drops, and light shows, it’s basically a mini music festival every weekend.

And if you see me out there on the dance floor here… no, you didn’t.

12. Lost & Found

Lost & Found is a cozy, retro bar that feels like stepping straight into the ’70s and ’80s, with vintage furniture, old-school decor, and nostalgic touches everywhere you look. They often have a DJ spinning, plus live music on Fridays and Saturdays, so the energy is always on point.

The music here depends on the night, but expect a mix of retro hits, funk, disco, indie dance, and live bands rather than a straight-up club playlist. The Pornstar Martini is my go-to here, but no matter what you order, this place just has a way of making you want to stay a while.

It seems like there are a lot of retro bars in St. Pete popping up recently, and honestly, I’m not mad about it at all!

13. My Rich Uncle

My Rich Uncle is a martini bar and retro lounge that brings a dressed-up, playful nightlife feel to downtown St. Pete. It’s only open on the weekends, so keep that in mind!

The vibe is martinis, bottle service, DJs, and dancing, with music that usually leans into high-energy party tracks, dance hits, disco-influenced sets, and late-night lounge beats.

This is a good one to add when you want something a little more polished than a dive bar but still very much ready for a dance floor.

14. Pour Judgement

Pour Judgement is Tampa Bay’s first craft shot bar, and they did not hold back. There are 269 shots to choose from, which makes flipping through the giant shot book half the fun. If you want a solid recommendation, the Nerds Rope is my go-to.

They even have wild options like the S’mores shot, complete with a torched marshmallow on top. This is one of those St. Pete bars I always make a pit stop at when I’m going out with friends, even if it’s just for one quick shot before heading somewhere else.

15. Dirty Laundry

Okay, this St. Pete speakeasy is making me regret picking favorites because Dirty Laundry is one of those spots I always want to bring out-of-town friends to. It’s fun, unexpected, and very easy to build a night around.

By day, it looks like a cute laundromat serving coffee and pastries, but at night, just pick up the payphone, and you’ll get instructions on how to enter.

Inside, it’s a Havana-inspired cocktail lounge with neon signs, Cuban-themed drinks, and live music or a DJ depending on the night. Plus, there’s a huge outdoor patio, making it one of the most spacious speakeasies I’ve ever been to.

16. The Canopy

The Canopy is downtown St. Pete’s very own rooftop bar, and it doesn’t disappoint. Sitting right on Beach Drive, you get waterfront views, private cabanas, fire pits, and hands down some of the best frosé I’ve ever had.

If you’re out on a Wednesday, ladies’ night means half-off frosé, just saying. There’s something about seeing the city from up here that always puts me in a good mood.

17. One Night Stand

At some point in the night, the only logical next step is riding a mechanical bull. Enter One Night Stand. This place used to be a regular stop on my downtown St. Pete nights out, and honestly, it’s still a blast if you want something more interactive than just standing around with a drink.

It’s one of the few country bars in town, so expect country music, singalong throwbacks, bar games, and Mustache Rides (which is what they named their mechanical bull, in case you were wondering).

18. Park and Rec

Games, drinks, and a great DJ, what more do you need? Park and Rec’s motto is “Youth has no age,” and you definitely feel that here. Inside, you’ll find arcade games like Guitar Hero and DDR, while outside, you’ve got cornhole, Jenga, foosball, giant pong, and more.

It gets busy on the weekends, but they’ve got bars throughout, so you usually don’t have to wait too long for a drink.

The music usually leans DJ-driven party hits, hip-hop, EDM, and throwbacks, so if you’re in the mood to dance between games, this is another solid choice.

19. Ferg’s

Ferg’s isn’t just a bar; it takes up nearly two city blocks! With 11 different areas, a backyard that can fit 3,000 people, and over 90 TVs, this is the place to catch a game. They’ve got live music, pool, darts, axe throwing, and plenty of room for a big group.

Ferg’s isn’t necessarily the first place I’m heading on a weekend night out, but if you’re pregaming a Rays game, this is the move. There’s even a tunnel under 1st Avenue South that takes you straight to the Trop.
